Tragic Encounter Claims Lives of Indian Army and Police Officer in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir

In a tragic and somber turn of events, the Garol forests of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district became the backdrop for a fierce encounter between security forces and terrorists, resulting in the loss of two Indian Army officers and a senior police official. Even while the frequency of attacks or encounters had appeared to be declining in recent months, this occurrence has once again brought attention to the ongoing security issues encountered in the area.
The killed warriors were identified as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Humayun Muzamil Bhat, who had just been deployed to the area, Major Ashish Dhonchack of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit, and Colonel Manpreet Singh, who oversaw the unit.
Official reports state that the joint operation was started by the local police and Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army as a result of specific intelligence that was gathered on September 12 and 13 in the Garol area.
In a formal statement, the Indian Army stated: “On the intervening nights of September 12 and 13, in Area Garol, Anantnag, a Joint Operation was initiated by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police based on specific intelligence on the presence of terrorists. Contact was made, and a gunfight followed. One J&K Police officer and two Army men were hurt. Operation is ongoing.”
However, there are growing signs that this may not have been a planned operation after hearing that three to four well-trained terrorists were involved.
The joint teams came under heavy fire from the terrorists as they approached the alleged militant hideaway, which was located deep within the Kokernag forests of the Anantnag district. The officers and jawans involved in the operation suffered injuries as a result of the firefight.
Additional troops were hurried to the scene in reaction to the three senior officers’ wounds. The operation quickly sealed off the Garol region, which is located in the upper Kokernag forest belt.
The immediate aftermath of the Anantnag encounter saw Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, and Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar rushing to the encounter site. The injured officers were subsequently transported to the Army’s base hospital in Srinagar, where they tragically succumbed to their injuries.
The Resistance Front’s (TRF) Falcon squad claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on social media. They cited the attack as revenge for the recent killing of their leader, Mohammad Riyaz, in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In the Anantnag district, tensions have increased as a result of this incident. As efforts to combat the region’s ongoing terrorist threat continue, security forces are still on high alert. The emergence of new terrorist units has made the situation much more complicated, and intelligence sources indicate that the assailants may be connected to a unit that was behind a previous assault on soldiers in the Poonch district.
Leaders in the area have demanded a review of Kashmir’s government policies in response to the attack. Some have encouraged India and Pakistan to hold talks in order to end the violence and create a stable peace. Even if the situation is still complicated, the determination to fight terrorism and promote peace in Jammu & Kashmir is unwavering.

Sarah Burton’s Givenchy Debut: A New Era Through the Female Gaze

Sarah Burton has officially redefined Givenchy. In her Fall 2025 debut at Paris Fashion Week, the former Alexander McQueen creative director brought a feminine perspective to the legendary house, embracing strength, vulnerability, and emotional intelligence. This moment felt significant—not only because of Burton’s storied past but also because so few women currently helm major luxury brands.
A Tribute to Givenchy’s Heritage
Burton’s inspiration came from Hubert de Givenchy’s 1952 debut collection, known for its clean, graphic silhouettes. A recent discovery of the maison’s archival calico patterns further fueled her vision, leading to designs that balanced wearable ease with dramatic, couture-like elements.
The show opened with a black fishnet catsuit, a bold reset before transitioning into the essence of Burton’s Givenchy—a collection that honored the past while embracing modern femininity.

Vanessa Kirby Personifies Sarah Burton’s Givenchy at the Fall 2025 Show

Vanessa Kirby made a striking appearance at Sarah Burton’s highly anticipated inaugural Givenchy runway show for Fall 2025, embodying the essence of the designer’s vision. As a longtime admirer of Burton’s work, the Fantastic Four: First Steps star was eager to witness the debut collection in Paris.
“I really wanted to be here in Paris for Sarah’s first show,” Kirby expressed with enthusiasm. “Sarah has been my favorite designer for years. I absolutely love everything she does—I think she’s a master. She designs clothes truly for women—always extraordinary, feline, and structured in a way that makes you feel so empowered.”
Having collaborated with Burton throughout her tenure at Alexander McQueen, Kirby’s presence at the show was a testament to their ongoing creative synergy. Dressed in a sleek black ensemble with sharp shoulders and a plunging V-neck, Kirby’s outfit embodied Burton’s signature aesthetic: a balance of strength and femininity. “The dress we chose felt very classic—the shape felt architectural and strong, but also daytime and relaxed,” she noted.
Following the intimate runway presentation, Kirby joined an exclusive gathering of fashion and film’s elite at a celebratory dinner honoring Burton’s Givenchy debut.
