Know the history of recently added World Heritage Site- Hoysala Empire temples

UNESCO has recently added Hoysala Empire temples to the list of world heritage sites. It is located in the southern state of Karnataka.
In the 11th and 12th centuries in north and Central India, great temples were made in the Naga. South Indian style prevailed in magnificent temples, which are Varun being constructed in Tamilnadu in the Deccan which lay in between north and South India hill chieftains named the hoysalas varg gradually coming into power and creating a kingdom in Southern Karnataka.
Hoysala history is clear from the time of Vishnuvardhan, who ruled from 1100 and 8 to 1100, and 42 inscriptions show that the king, his wife, and his Minister were patrons of Temple Kings Vishnu Vardhan defeated the imperial cholas in 1100. This was a major landmark of his dynasty.
The Ornate style of the Temple under Hoysalas inherited a rich tradition of Temple building from the dynasties; the Chalukyas and Cholas made magnificent temples.
Hoysala King Balala, the second, added carved window screens that give the Mandapa Amor a closed feeling. Now, such screens continue the tradition of Western Chalukyan temples in the Deccan.
The exterior of the temple is more profusely sculpted than ever before in a manner that has come to be known as ornate Hoysala-style horizontal rows of carvings run around the temple in an ordered and highly organized design.
The essential ornament of temples of all the themes presented by Hoysala artist dance appears to be the most favored. We see men and women dancing with and without musical instruments almost all the
Deities are seen in dance posture celebrating beauty and possibilities of the human form, which is image as divine. The Emblem of the Hoysala dynasty depicts a man killing a lion. Which is based on the story of Salah, who was the tribal. He saved a meditating Jain son who was killing a lion about to Pounce on him.
Artists of that time must have been among the most diligent in their detailed work and most prolific in their output; it is the stylization in India Art that is mounted here with less naturalism, which was also seen before, while every fingernail is called the breath of life which animates much of Indian sculpture has given way to profuse ornamentation and ornaments which display the grandeur of the Hoysala court and Empire.

In her Fall 2025 debut at Paris Fashion Week, the former Alexander McQueen creative director brought a feminine perspective to the legendary house, embracing strength, vulnerability, and emotional intelligence. This moment felt significant—not only because of Burton’s storied past but also because so few women currently helm major luxury brands.
A Tribute to Givenchy’s Heritage
Burton’s inspiration came from Hubert de Givenchy’s 1952 debut collection, known for its clean, graphic silhouettes. A recent discovery of the maison’s archival calico patterns further fueled her vision, leading to designs that balanced wearable ease with dramatic, couture-like elements.
The show opened with a black fishnet catsuit, a bold reset before transitioning into the essence of Burton’s Givenchy—a collection that honored the past while embracing modern femininity.
