His path comprised postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health and clinical training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre at Harvard Medical School. At the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Weissman founded his research group in 1997. He is currently making a substantial contribution to the area as the Director of the Penn Institute for RNA Innovations and the Roberts Family Professor in Vaccine Research.
